The winner of the prestigious Nordic Trophy 2014 and internationally famed show truck, Highway Hero, is also a working truck.
I had a change to photograph Highway Hero in Parainen, Finland on a beautiful Sunday morning, 17 May 2015.
According to schedule, Highway Hero was returning from a Swedish exhibition to Turku, Finland by the 7.50 ferry. Sunday was a workday for Mika Auvinen and Highway Hero, and they were to pick up a load of cement at Parainen.
We were waiting by Kirjalansalmi bridge. The location was lovely, and even if there had been frost that morning, it was warming up and the birdsong around us was amazing. Finland is at its best this time of year.
Suddenly we saw something glistening in silver and green at the other end of the bridge. Highway Hero, with lights on. With eyes fixed on the eagle front, my very first impulse was just to stare. But I was there to photograph, of course, and my M settings were ready, and I was ready. So it was to shoot away!
For a photographer and truck enthusiast Highway Hero is a breathtaking sight. It is from a different world. And you must to see it in motion, trust me. Trucks live on the road, and Highway Hero is the Hero of all highways.
